"I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You've got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do"
Steve Jobs
I always urge my students to fall in love with what they do and success would follow. I use example of Steve Job as a creative man who changed the world. While Bill Gates will be known for his philanthropy 100 years from now; Steve Jobs will forever be known as one of the most innovative man of 20th century.
RIP Steve.
Dr. Shahin Pourgol

I am very proud to announce my friend and schoolmate, Dr Mohsen Kazemi (CMCC class of 1996) has been chosen as a member of Canadian National Taekwondo team.
This is the first time an Iranian/Canadian sports chiropractor has ever been selected for the Canadian National Taekwondo team. I on behalf of all National Academy of Osteopathy staff and faculty wish him best of luck in the coming competitions.
Dr. Shahin Pourgol

Mr. Jack Layton; leader of the federal New Democratic Party (NDP) restored a measure of humanity to Canadian national politics. He will be missed.
My deepest condolences for his passing to his wife honorable Olivia Chow, member of parliament and the rest of his family. He made New Democratic Party the opposition federal party for the first time in Canadian history. This is amazing achievement and I think his personality was the main factor in this.
I admire people who achieve great results. He will forever be part of Canadian history. A life lived well. Farewell Jack.
Dr. Shahin Pourgol
We are happy to announce that National Academy of Osteopathy has been approved by Mobile Osteopathy Canada and Union Ergonomics for two new scholarships. We now have 38 scholarships offered by National Academy of Osteopathy to national and international students.
These two scholarships are funded by Union Ergonomics (www.unionergonomics.com) for the Clinical Ergonomics certificate program; and Mobile Osteopathy Canada (www.mobileosteopathycanada.com) for the diploma in osteopathic manual practice program.
Union Ergonomics offers $8,500 in scholarships to selected number of licensed health professionals such as manual osteopaths, chiropractors, physiotherapists & massage therapists who are interested in becoming a Certified Clinical Ergonomist (CCE).
Mobile Osteopathy Canada offers $10,000 in scholarships to 10 students ($1,000 each) who study manual osteopathy in any of the 6 accredited Canadian manual osteopathy colleges which are: National Academy of Osteopathy, Collège d'Études Ostéopathiques, Centre Ostéopathique du Québec , Canadian College of Osteopathy, Southern Ontario College of Osteopathy, The Osteopathic College of Ontario.
Professor Shahin Pourgol, alongside a number of other academicians, politicians, policy makers and businesspersons was invited to give a presentation in regards to the current economic crisis in the USA and Europe and how to prevent this in Canada.
Here is a short summary of what Professor Pourgol spoke about:
Canada was originally an ideal location for manufacturing goods as the raw materials were in great supply. The nation flourished, with an economy based on manufacturing.
After the end of the cold war; certain type of economic liberty was born in China. China’s economy was mainly based on farming. Due to correct economic decisions they got involved in manufacturing. Due to cheap labour; and some political manoeuvring in keeping their currency law; they made great fortunes. They did another smart decision. They lent this new found fortune to first world countries and in turn their received duty free, tax free export of their products. This made them the richest country in the world.
It is now impossible for Canada to compete with China in manufacturing. That is why most manufacturing jobs died down in Canada.
To remedy this Canada invested in information technology (IT). This was good as we became one of the best in the world. Unfortunately due to advancement of internet based technologies such as Voice Over Internet Protocols (VOIP); as well as cheap labour and their ability to speak English, India now surpassed us in IT. Most IT jobs are going to India.
I personally feel, the way for Canada to survive and prosper and keep the current level of high quality life is to invest in service based industries. I believe the future rests in service based small businesses. These are positions such as osteopaths, chiropractors, painters, plumbers, carpenters, physicians, dry cleaners, etc that cannot be outsourced to India. These positions will always be safe.
I also believe there should be a heavy tax levied on Canadian import products. This would force consumers to buy Canadian.
My last advice is for banks not to give mortgage to just anyone with a job who is interested in buying a house. Buying a house with 5% or less down payment is just not a good investment. People have to invest at least 25% in their homes. This alone would have prevented the house meltdown of the USA.
The above was the summary of Professor Pourgol's presentation. Professor Pourgol personally believes becoming a manual osteopath is the best thing individuals can do to secure their future. This is a skilled based profession that can be applied anywhere in the world. No matter where one practices osteopathy, there is always a demand. In Canada there is a one to two months waiting list to see an osteopath. In Iran the waiting list is six months!
Purchasing a unit of Union Ergonomics franchise can help you immigrate to Canada and become a Canadian permanent resident, leading to Canadian citizenship in 3 years following arrival in Canada.
International Union Ergonomics franchisees from Iran, China, Taiwan, and other countries are able to apply under the Business category of Citizenship & Immigration Canada. To start the process these non-Canadian applicants need to purchase a business worth at least $200,000.
For international Union Ergonomics franchisees who are interested in immigrating to Canada and owning a business here; we highly recommend immigration consulting services of Mr Sukanta Saha (lawyer) and Ms. Shirin Pourgol (paralegal) of Pourgol Paralegal services. Ms. Pourgol is one of the top immigration consultants in Canada and a member of the Upper Canada Law Society. She can be reached at immigration@pourgolparalegal.com.
Her immigration consulting services are guaranteed; meaning in the unlikely event she is unable to secure Canadian permanent residence status for any international Union Ergonomics franchisee; her consulting fee is returned to the applicant.

We are glad to announce Dr Shahin Pourgol just finished authoring a new book; this one being in the field of osteopathy; his first in this field. The book is titled “Manual Osteopathy Techniques: Lumbar”. It is a compendium of different osteopathic techniques such as osteo-articular joint mobilization, soft tissue therapy, muscle energy technique, etc as it relates to the lumbar spine.
Dr Pourgol is in the process of authoring more manual osteopathy technique books; which hopefully will be completed soon. These books will be published by National Academy of Osteopathy Printing House.
Dr Pourgol is deeply in love with osteopathy profession and his main goal is to expand it internationally so everyone; in any corner of the world could have access to this amazing & fascinating method of health care.

National Academy of Osteopathy has just completed production of the first instructional DVD in the Sports Osteopathy. The DVD is titled “Kick Faster in 5 Minutes”. This DVD is designed for martial artists and teaches practical techniques that can be practiced solo in 5 minutes per day to increase kicking speed by affecting the type IIb (fast twitch) muscle fibers.
National Academy of Osteopathy has accepted production of this vast project for two main reasons. The first being to introduce general public to the Osteopathic Sports Energy Technique (the only osteopathy technique created in Canada) and the second making sports osteopathy more popular.
While sports therapy is a big part of medicine and chiropractic; it is unfortunately not practiced widely in the manual osteopathy profession. NAO wants to change this. As such it is the only Canadian osteopathy college teaching sports osteopathy; as part of its curriculum.
Dear Shahin,
Ontarians have always been builders, hard workers and focused on the future -- it's how we face our challenges.
Our most recent hurdle was the global recession. We got through it our way - The Ontario Way: with hard work and by building together. It wasn't easy, but today our province is back on track.
We're not going to slow down now. That's just not our way.
This past weekend, in a major public address, I outlined the six challenges Ontarians need to face head-on in the coming years. But to succeed we must do it together.
Ontario Liberals are different. We're not just out to win the coming election -- we're out to win the future for Ontario. Every day we're working hard to make Ontario stronger. We believe that if we face our challenges together, we will build a brighter future, together.
Please pass this letter on, and let people know that we are doing our part to build the Ontario you want for you, your children, and grandchildren.
Hon. Dalton McGuinty, MPP
Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party
Premier of Ontario

We are happy to announce that we just sold one unit of Union Ergonomics and one unit of Spinal Traction Clinic to Ms. Josephine in the United States of America.

We welcome Ms. Josephine to our family and wish her success in her new business.
National Academy of Osteopathy, Union Ergonomics and Spinal Traction Clinic students, employees, franchisees and faculty congratulate world famous osteopath; Dr Shahin Pourgol on developing and founding the Osteopathic Sports Energy Technique (SET). This is the first time a Canadian originates an osteopathic technique. It is time for Canada to have a place in osteopathic history.
SET is a form of advanced osteopathic technique designed to improve athletic performance by increasing speed. This is achieved by working on the fast twitch type IIb skeletal muscle fibres.
Using osteopathic S.E.T. athletes can achieve dramatic increase in speed often after the first session! They can run, kick, jump or punch faster often after doing the first set of S.E.T. techniques.

Dear Friends:
On behalf of all staff at Union Ergonomics, Spinal Traction Clinic and National Academy of Osteopathy; I would like to say happy New Year to all Persians everywhere. Wish this year be filled with love, health, wealth and happiness for you and your family.
With the spring and the Iranian New Year just in the corner; I am happy to announce great news. The Ministry of Health in Taiwan has permitted National Academy of Osteopathy to offer the manual osteopathy program in Taiwan.
National Academy of Osteopathy registrar; Ms. Peggy Chiang is leaving for Taiwan for a ten days business trip tomorrow. She will be working on the logistics of expanding NAO to Taiwan.
Taiwan is a large island with a population of 23 millions. I am so excited to introduce manual osteopathy there. Very soon thousands of Taiwanese will have access to one of the best health professions in the world. NAO graduate manual osteopaths will decrease pain and improve function of countless Taiwanese. This is the best joy life. To produce healers who help people live better. There can be no better profession than this.
From its inception, NAO has provided leadership in scientific; evidence-based manual osteopathy education. Our proud traditions of academic and clinical excellence—preparing students for achievement and success—have always been at the core of what we do, and will always remain our highest priorities.
In keeping with our motto, “Clinically Based; Practice Oriented; Scientific Manual Osteopathic Education,” we complement basic and clinical sciences with the art of caring for people.
• NAO is well known as a leader in scientific manual osteopathy education. We only teach techniques that are effective and proven through evidence based research.
• At NAO we place heavy emphasis on business & clinical education. We prepare NAO graduates for the real world by teaching them business principles, including marketing, investment, & tax planning.
• NAO is the only osteopathy school in Canada offering training in physiotherapy modalities, orthotics, support hose, decompression therapy & clinical ergonomics.
• Because NAO graduates are expertly prepared to work in integrated care settings and to provide the highest quality patient care, they are the most likely to succeed in this new environment. We graduate successful manual osteopaths.
• Our manual osteopathy technique labs average approximately ten students to each professor (10:1). This kind of low student-faculty ratio assures you will confidently enter the manual osteopathy profession after graduation, prepared to provide the best treatment for your patients.
• NAO is approved by International Osteopathic Association (IOA) as an accredited manual osteopathy school. NAO students may join IOA upon graduation to receive certificate of registration.
• NAO graduates who are members of IOA may practice in most countries of the world; including Canada, USA, England, Australia, Iran, China, Brazil, India, Jamaica, Russia, Latvia, Ukraine, Poland, Taiwan, Philippines, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Peru, Mexico, & Italy.
• NAO graduates are eligible to receive manual osteopathy malpractice insurance from Holman Insurance at a preferred rate.
• NAO is approved by Canadian Manual Osteopathy Examining Board (CMOEB). NAO graduates may sit for board exams upon graduation.
• NAO is affiliated with Union Ergonomics & Spinal Traction Clinic. With 57 franchises in this group; they are the #1 provider of ergonomic services to Canadian workers; the #1 provider of orthopaedic shoes to welfare recipients and the leader in providing affordable back pain relief through decompression traction therapy.
NAO is proud of the leadership and rich heritage it contributes to the manual osteopathy profession. The future of health care will focus on integrating disciplines, preparing competent professionals, providing effective care, and promoting health.
National Academy of Osteopathy will prepare students to fill the rapidly evolving role of the manual osteopath. I invite you to become part of our vision of manual osteopathy's growth and a future of serving patients in need of our unique healing art and science.
Please click on the link to see NAO students practicing manual osteopathy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hki2b-oGl0k. This is what our students are saying about their training at NAO:
"The National Academy of Osteopathy has been an excellent experience thus far! Hands down, this is the best practical training I have received. Dr. Pourgol does a great job demonstrating the techniques on each of the students so that we can experience the technique first hand and know what we are supposed to feel. This allows us to communicate with the other students to see how our technique compares to the instructors. I am really enjoying the program and I look forward to going into class each day! "
Kyle Perks
Full Time Student-Class of 2011
"...Dr. Pourgol's lectures and clinical classes are all based on his professional experience in this field. Our other professors are also on top of their medical fields. Their patience and dedication to every student is overwhelming. There will be a new generation of Manual Osteopaths coming from NAO and I strongly believe we are being trained to be the best in Canada and perhaps in the world."
Jay David
Part Time Student-Class of 2011
"...For me “NATIONAL ACADEMY OF OSTEOPATHY” is like following Gandhi’s word: “Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning.”
And after attending some classes, I feel, I made the right choice. I am happy to be part of this journey..."
Shahla Eshman
Part time student-class of 2011
I love my students. And I love teaching them. Sharing my clinical and business knowledge with them gives me so much joy and happiness.
Happy Persian New Year everyone!

Dear Friends:
In a special ceremony attended by a number of distinguished guests; the Pourgol family coat of arms was revealed yesterday. A coat of arms is a symbol or collection of symbols, usually represented on a shield, which indicates the traits of a particular person, family, corporation, or state.
Each item in a coat of arms has detailed symbolism attached to it. Here is the short symbolism behind each item in the Pourgol family coat of arms:
1) The two royal falcons represent me “Shahin” as the patriarch of Pourgol family in Canada protecting the family. The name Shahin in Farsi means “royal falcon”.
2) On the shield; on top and bottom and the middle are colors of green, red and white symbolizing Iran; where Pourgol family came from.
3) In the middle of the shield; five maple leave; symbolizing Canada; where Pourgol family resides and the five initial members of Pourgol clan in Canada.
4) My dog Snowy on the shield represents unconditional love. The love I have for all family and people around me.
5) The lion on the shield has two meaning. First is a symbol of Venice, Italy; where I proposed to the love of my life. She is the reason behind all my success. Because of her I am the happiest man alive. Second; it symbolizes my son.
6) The two books symbolize my father’s school, and my school (National Academy of Osteopathy), as well as the love my dad instilled in me for books; which is one of the reasons for my success.
7) The green leave on top symbolizes nature that I love so dearly. It also symbolizes the village of Foshtom, city of Rasht and the province of Gilan that are so green.
8) The vertebra on top symbolizes chiropractic & Osteopathy. Chiropractic directed me toward a career in health. Osteopathy directed me to share my knowledge with students. Inside the vertebra is the word “Shahin” in Farsi.
9) Dream Big. Take Action; at the bottom is my motto in life. It is what I believe and what has taken me to where I am.
10) The color green, orange, and blue represent Union Ergonomics, Spinal Traction Clinic and National Academy of Osteopathy. They are entities that allowed me to help my fellow Canadians by creating jobs and providing a better life for so many people while helping thousands of patients decrease their pain. These colors also represent Trees, sun and sea that I love so much.
11) The purple color on the shield symbolizes my best friend Devika; who is the best human being I have ever met. She has taught me a lot about the fine art of tranquility.
Dr. Shahin Pourgol, DC, DMO, CDTT, CCE

We are happy to announce Holman Insurance has designed an insurance policy; specifically for manual osteopaths; titled “Medical Sector – Manual Osteopathy”. And National Academy of Osteopathy students are now approved for this custom designed malpractice insurance.
This is a comprehensive policy covering: Professional Negligence, Libel & Slander, Infringement of Copyright, Breach of Confidentiality, General Liability to Third Parties, & Rescuers & Good Samaritan Acts. The cost is generally $700 or more per year.
To receive more information about this malpractice insurance please contact Holman Insurance at: www.holmanins.com.

We are very happy to report that after a lot of hard work, waiting and running around we have finally received approval from the Ministry of Health in Iran and China to offer the manual osteopathy program there. Once these are established; we will work on expanding to Brazil and India.
Our goal is to make National Academy of Osteopathy the largest college in the world. What osteopaths do, saves lives. For example; educating a patient in regards to osteoporosis would save their lives by making their bones stronger so when they fall, they do not break their bones. When a bone breaks in an elderly; it may cut the femoral artery and that is a leading cause of death in women above 60 years of age.
By expanding manual osteopathy internationally; we are saving lives and this is the greatest joy ever.
Monday was the first day of the full time manual osteopathy program at NAO. It was the first time Dr. Shahin Pourgol taught a class. When his lecture finished students rose & gave him standing ovation! It was an emotional moment for Dr. Pourgol.
We are very happy to announce National Academy of Osteopathy has added two new part time certificate programs which are:
1) Certified Fitter – Foot Orthotics
2) Certified Fitter – Support Hose
These programs lead to CFFO and CFSH certificates enabling manual osteopaths to dispense custom made foot orthotics and compression socks for their patients. Custom made foot orthotics and compression socks are effective medical devices that help many patients with foot and leg conditions.
NAO is the only osteopathy school in Canada offering these two courses.
We are very happy to announce; Mr. Vasco is owner of Spinal Traction Clinic # 17. He is also the owner of the second Union Ergonomics / Spinal Traction Clinic combo unit in Brampton. Mr. Vasco will have five decompression traction rooms set up in his clinic. He is an extremely successful Portuguese businessman and we are very happy to have him join our operational franchisees. His new clinic will be operational on April 01st, 2011.
National Academy of Osteopathy (NAO) is revolutionizing manual osteopathy education in Canada by offering the only physiotherapy modalities course designed specifically for manual osteopaths.
Certain patients with acute pain and injury cannot tolerate hands on treatment. These patients are generally referred to physiotherapists or given anti-inflammatory (NSAID) and pain medications by family physicians. Thanks to the Auxiliary Osteopathy Therapy program of NAO; manual osteopaths can now provide physiotherapy modalities treatments (such as ultrasound, electrotherapy, thermotherapy, & Cryotherapy) to patients suffering from severe pain. Physiotherapy modalities decrease pain and inflammation and as a result prepare patients to receive manual treatments provided by osteopaths.
Successful graduates are eligible to use the designation Certified Electrotherapist (CET). This course is open to all students and practitioners of manual osteopathy.
For more information about this certificate program please contact NAO registrar at (416) 635-6550.
Dr. Shahin Pourgol just finished typing the last paragraph of his new written work: “Canadian Guide to Healthy Feet & Legs”.
This guide is written in an easy to read language; for the lay person filled with many practical tips; helping them to walk and stand better and longer without getting tired; while preventing common foot & leg disorders. Some of the topics include: exercises; treatments, injury prevention, & anatomy. Special attention is given to foot care for seniors, children and diabetics.
We would like to thank Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Board for their generous help and support with this work.

These scholarships were established by Dr. Shahin Pourgol; DC, DMO, CDTT, CCE (chiropractor, osteopath & ergonomist) to reward doctors of chiropractic who pursue manual osteopathy education at National Academy of Osteopathy. They are granted to all chiropractors accepted to NAO. They will be in the form of 50% tuition credit.
To receive a scholarship application please contact National Academy of Osteopathy registrar at: admissions@nationalacademyofosteopathy.com..
In a special event today; National Academy of Osteopathy announced formation of 29 awards and scholarships; available to NAO students who enrol in the Manual Osteopathy diploma program. To receive the awards and scholarship list please contact NAO registrar at admissions@nationalacademyofosteopathy.com.
It is our pleasure to announce Mr. T. Mohajer; the owner of Brampton Union Ergonomics Clinic has been chosen as the Union Ergonomics franchisee of the year 2010.
The franchisee of the year award is the highest honour that can be bestowed upon a franchisee. The award is presented to the franchisee that displays teamwork and excellence in their day-to-day operations and has a reputation for doing quality, professional work.
Union Ergonomics head office is quite pleased to acknowledge Mr Mohajer’s excellent work with this award. During the past year Brampton Union Ergonomics Clinic continued to provide superb health care to all patients attending this clinic. As a result they are now operating on a full time basis (40 hours per week) and are fully booked. They are also one of the few clinics in our franchise family that hit the million dollar sales in less than a year.
“At Brampton Union Ergonomics Clinic, our employees are committed to providing the best ergonomic services. It’s important that we keep our professional image and overall Union Ergonomics brand name strong and to be able to continue providing best available health care to Canadian workers. I would like to be involved with where Union Ergonomics is headed and give regular input.” said Mr. T. Mohajer, franchise owner of the Union Ergonomics clinic in Brampton, Canada.
“This award speaks to the hard work and effort of a franchisee owner,” says Jenna Repath, COO of Union Ergonomics. “Mr. Mohajer is a hands-on owner/operator and emphasizes stellar customer relations. I am very proud to have him, Ebrahim and Michael as part of our franchise family.”
We are honoured to have individuals such as Mr. Mohajer, his wife and two sons in our franchise family. As a thank you for all their hard work; we have reduced their franchise royalty fee from 8% to 5% for the year 2011.

Manual osteopathy is a rewarding health care profession that deals with musculoskeletal and joints conditions such as low back pain. There is zero unemployment in Osteopathy. And the average income for a full time osteopath is $90,000 annually.
There are a few more seats available for ourNAO first class but the application deadline is approaching fast. If you are interested in joining this exciting, emerging and much in demand health care profession; please contact Ms. Peggy Chiang; NAO registrar at info@nationalacademyofosteopathy.com.

We are very happy to announce Spinal Traction Clinic #16 was just sold to Mr. Mohajer. Mr. Mohajer is also the owner of Brampton Union Ergonomics Clinic. Spinal Traction Clinic #16 will be set up inside his Union Ergonomics franchise clinic. This makes 56 the number of franchises sold in our two franchise systems (Union Ergonomics and Spinal Traction Clinic).
The fact that one of our current franchisees has purchased a second franchise indicates his outmost trust in us as well as his happiness with our franchise system.
We congratulate Mr. Mohajer on this wise decision and wish him continued success in his business.
Franchise Canada Directory 2011 has just been published by Canadian Franchise Association and Union Ergonomics logo has been published as part of the top 30 franchises operating in Canada, in the inside cover section of the magazine. This magazine is available for purchase at Chapters, Indigo and other stores across Canada.
This is quite an achievement for our young franchise system when it is placed alongside such giant multinational franchises as: McDonald’s, The UPS Store; Swiss Chalet, Harvey’s, Montana’s Cookhouse, Petvalue, Kelsey’s, Country Style and Certigard.
Union Ergonomics has achieved this status by offering an amazing income potential. Even though the majority of its franchisees are operating less than a year; most have already billed (for services & supplies provided to workers and patients on social assistance); more than they paid to purchase their franchise clinics! And they have done so by keeping their clinics open only 12 hours per week!
Some of our franchisees even billed more than their purchase price of $200,000 in less than four months of practice! This is an extraordinary development. Such income potential is unheard of in the Canadian franchise industry.
We congratulate all Union Ergonomics franchisees and their employees as well as all head office employees who together made this possible.
Thank you everyone for making us a success story.
We are very excited to announce Union Ergonomics can now provide certain orthopaedic braces to patients on social assistance and long term disability (LTD). Until now welfare recipients and patients on long term disability were eligible only for orthopaedic shoes and custom made foot orthotics in Union Ergonomics franchise clinics. As a matter of fact Union Ergonomics has become the number one provider of orthopaedic shoes and custom made foot orthotics to welfare recipients in the province of Ontario in 2010. There is currently a three months waiting list for these patients to be seen by our foot specialists.
We want to thank Ministry of Community and Social Services for allowing certain orthopaedic braces to be covered for these patients. These orthopaedic braces would drastically improve quality of life in these patients. They are greatly beneficial in managing certain health conditions by decreasing pain and improving function.
We are planning to make Union Ergonomics and Spinal Traction Clinic the fastest growing new franchises in the world in 2011 so all people everywhere could have access to our unique ergonomic services as well as affordable low back pain relief through decompression therapy.
As such we are looking for qualified area developers to join us by owning and operating a Union Ergonomics – Spinal Traction Clinic combined centre in a new city where we do not have a presence.
The normal purchase price for a combo unit of UE-STC centre is $360,000. We are offering this combo unit at an amazingly low price of $150,000 to only one qualified area developer per city.
There is a saving of $210,000 per combo unit. In turn the area developer helps us expand in that particular city by acting as our agent.
This offer only applies to the first clinic in each town. We believe once we have a clinic in any town we will be able to help many patients in that area and achieve our goal of making our unique ergonomic services available to workers everywhere nationally and internationally.
I would appreciate if you forward this email to all your friends so everyone could know about this amazing business opportunity. Anyone interested should contact our chief marketing officer; Mr. Tito Goswami for more info at cmo@unionergonomics.com or sales@spinaltractionclinic.com .

Spinal Traction Clinic franchise head office has been approached by representative of Jobst Canada to jointly set up booths inside major airports; as a way to introduce millions of travellers to decompression traction therapy and Jobst compression socks.
Jobst is the number one provider of compression socks (support hose) in the World. While initially support hose was used by people with varicose veins; these days majority of Compression socks are used for comfort; mostly to help people walk and stand for prolonged periods without pain and fatigue. They are fantastic for travellers as well as people who stand for long periods. They are the most popular items used by patients at Union Ergonomics franchise clinics.
Spinal Traction Clinic franchise is destined soon to be the World leader in providing affordable low back pain relief through decompression traction therapy. While decompression traction therapy is mainly used for back pain; it may also be used to stretch the spine and as a result offer back relaxation. That experience is what we will market mostly in the airports.
This partnership will be beneficial to all travellers while establishing Spinal Traction Clinic brand name.
We are very excited about this joint venture. It will do wonders for Spinal Traction Clinic franchise brand name recognition while helping travellers relax their back. A win-win combination for everyone.

Union Ergonomics has hired a brokerage firm to decide feasibility of taking Union Ergonomics public.
Taking Union Ergonomics franchise public and becoming a member of Toronto Stock Exchange (TSE) is the quickest and surest way to raise money and to fuel growth. New companies on the Toronto Stock Exchange can raise up to $20 millions. Established companies can raise a lot more. Public Companies are also typically valued more than private companies. A public company provides liquidity for management, shareholders, and investors and it also has more prestige and visibility with customers, suppliers, as well as the financial community.
Union Ergonomics Mississauga clinic # 3 has opened this Saturday. The grand opening party was attended by more than 200 people. It was a great party with lots of food! National Academy of Osteopathy (NAO) has been chosen to provide clinical ergonomics training to Union Ergonomics (UE) health practitioners.
Ergonomists study and apply scientific principles that affect the use of human energy, with a goal of minimizing hazards and maximizing the efficiency of work systems. The field of ergonomics combines the perspectives of health science and engineering, providing students with interdisciplinary knowledge and practical skills.
The Certified Clinic Ergonomist program (CCE) offered by National Academy of Osteopathy is available only to Union Ergonomics health practitioners such as chiropractors, osteopaths, registered massage therapists, physiotherapists and medical doctors. It is not open to the general public. To inquire about how you may take this course please contact Union Ergonomics franchise head office.
The goals of the program are for health practitioners to have a thorough understanding of the physical environment at the workplace that contributes to musculoskeletal injuries and illnesses, as well as knowledge of the engineering and administrative methods of controlling these risk factors. The highly interdisciplinary nature of the Certified Clinical Ergonomist Program prepares Union Ergonomics health practitioners for the variety of interactions they will encounter in their daily practice.
Union Ergonomics has become a corporate sponsor of International Franchise Association’s Educational Foundation. The Educational Foundation supports the research, scholarship, and education programs that help promote and protect the business environment for franchising.

Effective, September 2010 Spinal Traction Clinic is a proud member of International Franchise Association. International Franchise Association (IFA), Based in Washington, USA is the largest franchise association in the World since 1960.

The Costa Rica trip was a success. Union Ergonomics is in the process of setting up an orthopaedic shoes manufacturing company near San Jose, Costa Rica. We are negotiating with the Costa Rican government in regards to obtaining a free trade zone for the factory site.
Meanwhile we are also requesting to be the sole exclusive provider of safety boots and shoes as well as metatarsal boots to the public service workers of the Costa Rican government. We are optimistic to receive this as Costa Rica has no safety shoes manufacturer and by using Union Ergonomics factory they would create jobs for Costa Ricans; or Ticos as like to be called.
Once this happens Union Ergonomics would enter into a new growth phase. We are quite excited about this development.
Mr. Tito Goswami; owner/operator of Newmarket Union Ergonomics Clinic; and the 2009 Union Ergonomics franchisee of the year is mentioned in Franchise Canada magazine; the official publication of Canadian Franchise Association and the largest franchise media in Canada.
Congratulations Mr. Goswami. Best wishes for more success.
We are extremely excited to inform you of our new project; Spinal Traction Clinic franchise (managed by Union Ergonomics; #1 provider of orthopaedic shoes to welfare recipients in Ontario).
Decompression traction therapy is one of the most successful modalities available for low back pain. Most clinics charge $150 to $300 per treatment session. This makes it hard for majority of people to use this machine.
We are offering decompression traction therapy at Spinal Traction Clinics (STC) at $20 per session. Because of STC; this machine is now available to all patients. Everyone can afford this therapy now. Low back pain relief has never been so affordable!
To have all patients everywhere have access to decompression traction therapy we have decided to franchise this clinic. This is a revolutionary franchise concept as Spinal Traction Clinic franchisees do not pay any operating expenses! All expenses; such as rent, staff salary, advertising & marketing costs, phone, fax, equipments, supplies, etc. will be paid by Spinal Traction Clinic.
We are planning to open Spinal Traction Clinics in major cities. North York Spinal Traction Clinic is opening soon within the next few months.
With Union Ergonomics we are helping workers and welfare recipients and now with Spinal Traction Clinic we can provide affordable low back pain relief. You may visit www.spinaltractionclinic.com for more information.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Mohajer and his sons of Brampton Union Ergonomics Clinic who referred our franchisee # 40 from Kitchener to us.
I am glad to inform you we sold Union Ergonomics # 40 to Mr. K. Kermani in Kitchener. This was the lassold at the price of $250,000. All future UE clinics are priced at $300,000.t franchise
I welcome Mr. Kermani to my family and wish him success in his new exciting business.
Purchase price of one unit of Union Ergonomics franchise has now been increased to $300,000 plus HST.
North York Union Ergonomics Clinic is soon moving to a larger facility within the same building as the current space is not enough to serve all the patients.
Dr. Shawn Pourgol will be away in August 2010. He is going to San Jose, Costa Rica to set up an orthopaedic shoes manufacturing company. Currently our franchisees pay $120 or more for a pair of orthopaedic shoes. Union Ergonomics is planning to manufacture similar shoes at a cost of $60. Our franchisees will pay 50% less for orthopaedic shoes soon.
Union Ergonomics just sold two new Union Ergonomics franchises to Mrs. Scrocco and Mr. & Mrs. Chadha.
We chose Mrs. Scrocco’s clinic in Toronto downtown area near College and Ossington area. This is a Portuguese area and with Mrs. Scrocco’s husband being a well known Portuguese businessman; she will surely be successful in this area.
Mr. & Mrs. Chadha have been referred to us by our franchisee of the year 2009, Mr. Tito Goswami (owner of Newmarket Union Ergonomics Clinic). I thank you for this referral Mr. Goswami. I have chosen South Etobicoke (Bloor/Kipling) as the perfect location for this couple. They already own a successful sports bar near this area and I felt this to be a great area as our Etobicoke North franchisee, Mr. Ali Nezhadi of Kipling Union Ergonomics Clinic has been very successful and busy since opening his clinic a few weeks ago.
We wish them great success in their new chosen business and welcome them to our family.
Dr. Shawn Pourgol, founder, director & CEO of Union Ergonomics was featured on the cover of Javanan Weekly Magazine (Volume 11, issue 538, June 25, 2010) ; the largest Iranian magazine in Canada for the occasion of opening of his new passion; National Academy of Osteopathy (http://www.NationalAcademyofOsteopathy.com). Dr. Pourgol serves as the president of NAO as well as one of its professors.
Patients who are on long term disability and receive social assistance from Ministry of Community and Social Services are now able to receive a pair of orthopaedic shoes and custom made foot orthotics if medically necessary.

National Academy of Osteopathy is accredited by Council on Manual Osteopathy Education and as such its graduates are able to sit for exams administered by Canadian Manual Osteopathy Examining Board.
Union Ergonomics is becoming quite a multicultural franchise! We just sold franchise #36 to Dr. Lai Banwo. In April 2010 we sold four franchises at $250,000 to Chinnese, Pakistani, African & Persian Canadians. Dr. Banwo is our first Canadian franchisee who was born in Africa. Dr. Banwo was referred to us by Mr. Lee Man Choi, the owner/operator of Willowdale Union Ergonomics Clinic. This clearly indicates the outmost trust Mr. Choi has in this franchise.
Dr. Banwo, a family physician is our 4th franchisee with a health background. We welcome Dr. Banwo to Union Ergonomics family and wish him great success in his new business endeavour.

Union Ergonomics head office believes $250,000 is a low price for such a successful, classy, chic, high income, easy to run franchise that is also the first ever franchised ergonomics clinic in the history.
Union Ergonomics franchise growth has been a spectacular phenomenon. We have now franchisees in Ontario, British Columbia and USA. We will soon expand to Europe as well. Union Ergonomics head office has also been very successful at supporting its franchisees by adding new services such as making the clinics authorized by Ministry of Community & Social Services to provide orthopaedic shoes and custom made foot orthotics to welfare recipients as well as providing Back Safety Educational Program and issuing safety certificated approved by Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Board. These services increase income for our franchisees at an exponential rate.
Due to popular demand for Union Ergonomics franchise clinics (2 clinics sold in 2008 & 30 in 2009 at $200,000 and 2 sold in 2010 at $250,000) as well as the success of our current franchisees in Newmarket, Barrie, Brampton, North York, Mississauga, Hamilton, etc. as well as addition of new services that increase income potential of our franchisees and after careful consideration Union Ergonomics head office has decided to increase the purchase price of one unit of Union Ergonomics franchise clinic by $50,000 to $300,000 effective August 01, 2010.

Union Ergonomics, Canada’s fastest growing new franchise with 33 franchises sold in British Columbia, Ohio, and Ontario, and the #1 provider of ergonomic services to Canadian workers is setting up a new company to sell assistive & mobility devices that are paid directly by the Ontario provincial government (electric wheelchairs, stairlifts, etc.).
Assistive Devices Program (ADP) of Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (OMHLTC) covers for many mobility devices such as electric wheelchairs, stairlifts, orthopaedic devices, prosthetic, and many other items for all residents of Ontario who may need these equipments. All Ontario residents; regardless of their financial status are entitled to these items, not only welfare recipients or people on disability or social assistance.
Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) covers 75% of the price of these items. If the patient is a welfare recipient then Ministry of Community and Social Services (MCSS) covers the other 25%. If patient is a worker or employee who has extended health plan (EHP) , then EHP covers the other 25%.
Union Ergonomics just sold a franchise clinic in Vancouver. This is very special to us as this is the first time we sold a franchise clinic outside Ontario, in Canada.
Even though we have a franchisee in Cleveland, USA, this is the first time we are in another Canadian province.
We are working hard to set up all the clinics within the next two to three months. We have set up 14 clinics that are already operational and working. The rest will be operational within the next three months. We will then resume our marketing to sell franchises. We have temporarily halt all marketing to sell franchises in order to concentrate building all the franchises we have sold already, and to generate clients for them. Getting authorization from Ministry of Community and Social Services to provide orthopaedic shoes and custom made foot orthotics to welfare recipients is one example of how Union Ergonomics head office is helping its franchisees.

Dr Shawn pourgol, founder, director and CEO of Union Ergonomics franchise has been profiled for an article titled "Fun Franchise" which will appear in the May/June 2010 issue of Franchise Canada magazine; the largest franchise magazine in Canada and the official publication of Canadian Franchise Association. In this article; Dr. Pourgol talks about his personal belief as well as his likes, tastes, dreams and secret to success.
It is with utmost happiness I am announcing this news. Union Ergonomics has committed to fully sponsor and pay for building a non-profit outpatient orthopaedic hospital in the impoverished village of Foshtom, near city of Rasht, Iran.
I spent many summers in this village and was witnessed first hand the need for an orthopaedic hospital in this village.
Majority of people living in this area are rice farmers. Rice farming is a physically intensive profession that takes a heavy toll on farmers. The rate of osteoarthritis and degenerative disk disease are staggering in this village.
Unfortunately since farmers are not insured they have to pay out of pocket for medical services. As such they only see a doctor for emergency services as they are generally poor and unable to afford common medical services we take for granted.
It was always my goal to change that. I want to make sure they have access to common medical services without worrying about payment. Orthopaedic services in this hospital will be free of charge for these farmers and their families.
This is a work in progress. We will start by having three departments; orthopaedics surgery, physical therapy rehabilitation and clinical ergonomics.
I want to make sure these farmers are thought on proper ergonomic techniques. I want them to know proper ways of working as to decrease chance of injuring their back.
This will be an outpatient hospital meaning patients will not stay overnight. As such this hospital will gear mostly toward treating musculoskeletal and joint disorders.
This village gave me some of the most memorable memories of my life. I am proud to be able to give back to Foshtom.
