
Union Ergonomics has been created on August 25, 2008 by world famous osteopath, chiropractor and clinical ergonomist, Dr. Shahin (Shawn) Pourgol, who since then continues to be its director and chief executive officer.
Dr. Pourgol is also founder, director and chief executive officer of Spinal Traction Clinic as well as being the founder and president of National Academy of Osteopathy.

Later on, in his continuous pre-doctoral education at Ryerson University in Applied Chemistry and Biology, he managed to obtain the highest academic average of 97% (A+) between 11,000 university students, for which he was rewarded with the Merit Award, from Honourable David Peterson, the premier of Ontario. Subsequently, Dr. Pourgol was accepted to Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College where he finished program for a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) Degree. Since 1995,Dr. Pourgol has practised chiropractic medicine and is a licensed chiropractor & manual osteopath in the province of Ontario. He is currently a professor at National Academy of Osteopathy teaching manual osteopathy skills & techniques classes.
Dr. Pourgol is a member of major osteopathy, chiropractic, safety and ergonomic organizations in Canada and USA such as: International Osteopathic Association, Association of Canadian Ergonomists, Canadian Society of Safety Engineering, International Association of Safety Professionals, and Human Factors And Ergonomics Society. Dr. Pourgol has passed examinations administered by Canadian Manual Osteopathy Examining Board, Canadian Chiropractic Examining Board and National Board of Chiropractic Examiners and is a registered licensed member of College of Chiropractors of Ontario.

Dr. Pourgol is also a well known sports specialist in Portugal and Toronto, where he served as a doctor of Football Club of Porto (FCP) in Portugal and Iftin Football Club and Arya Football Club in Toronto.

Dr. Pourgol also established himself as an editor, health spokesperson, and as a well known international and local author. He is a past founder and editor of the Chiropractic Medicine Journal and past president and founder of Iranian Chiropractic Association (Canada). Dr. Pourgol is an author of numerous published articles everywhere in the world and he is also author of the books "Clinical Ergonomics: Joint Specific Exercises", "Canadian Guide to Healthy Feet & Leg" and "Manual Osteopathy Techniques: Lumbar".

Dr. Pourgol appeared as a health spokesperson on radio and Live on TV health shows in Toronto. Dr. Pourgol’s continuous involvement with many charities has led him to become a regularly invited spokesperson for seminars presented to seniors, workers and students regarding ergonomics and other health related issues.
